1. Your documents

When you open a PDF in SmartPDF, the file is read by JavaScript running in your browser. Rendering the pages, applying your edits and creating the downloaded PDF all happen on your device.

• We do not upload, receive or store the PDF files you open, the images you insert, or the signatures you draw.
• We do not send file names, document text, annotations or signatures to analytics or advertising services.
• Documents, inserted images and signatures are kept only in the memory of the browser tab while the editor is open. They are cleared when you close the document, reload the page or close the tab. We don’t save them in browser storage.
• The edited PDF is saved only where you choose to download it.
• Text recognition (OCR) for scanned pages also runs in your browser. The recognition engine and language files are downloaded from our website; the page image is never sent anywhere.

Processing in the browser reduces exposure because your document doesn’t pass through our servers. It cannot protect your file from malware on your device, malicious browser extensions, or vulnerabilities in your browser. Keep your system and browser up to date and only install extensions you trust.

2. Information collected when you visit

Hosting and security logs

Like any website, the servers that deliver SmartPDF’s pages receive technical information with each request — such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Our hosting provider uses this to deliver the site, prevent abuse and diagnose problems. These logs never contain your documents. They are kept only as long as needed for those purposes.

Analytics (optional)

If analytics is enabled on this site, we use Google Analytics only after you agree in the cookie banner. It helps us count visits and understand which features work, using a fixed list of events: editor opened, PDF loaded, editing started, PDF exported and editor error. These events carry no file names, sizes, content or other document details. IP anonymization is requested and advertising features of Google Analytics are disabled. You can decline, and the editor works exactly the same.

Advertising

Our informational pages may show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites, to limit how often you see an ad, and to measure ads. Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), you are asked for consent through a certified consent message before personalized advertising is used. Browser storage

SmartPDF stores one small value in your browser’s local storage to remember your analytics choice (only when analytics is enabled). It does not store documents.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply and keep a record of the conversation.

3. Legal bases

Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply: hosting logs are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure website; analytics and personalized advertising are based on your consent where consent is required; and email correspondence is processed to respond to your request.

4. Sharing

We don’t sell your personal information. Technical data is processed by our hosting provider and, where enabled, by Google for analytics and advertising as described above. We may disclose information if required by law.

5. Your choices and rights

• You can decline analytics in the cookie banner, and clear your choice by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
• You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and use Google’s Ads Settings to control personalized ads.
• Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to processing of your personal data, and to complain to a data protection authority. Contact us at nazarhus1991@gmail.com to make a request.

6. Children

SmartPDF is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes

We may update this policy when the service changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.

Contact form

If you use our contact form, the name, e-mail address, subject and message you enter are sent to us by e-mail so we can reply. We use them only to answer you and delete them when they are no longer needed. The form does not store your message on the website.
